FGNode — a generic measurement node developed with INRAE
The need: instrumenting research without multiplying electronics
Research teams face a recurring problem: every trial calls for different sensors, but redesigning complete electronics for each experiment is expensive and takes months. They needed a generic building block — a board able to take several types of sensors, robust in the field, and documented so other teams could pick it up.
The solution: the FGNode
The FGNode is a generic LoRaWAN measurement node designed by FURGO with INRAE: one board, standardised sensor inputs, low-power transmission and adaptable firmware. The design is published as open source — the project repository is being made public and will be linked here.
What FURGO took away from it
The FGNode has become an internal building block: several catalogue products and several design office projects reuse its hardware base. That is exactly the effect the open-source approach aims for — design once, reuse everywhere, and have the quality peer-checked.
